DONAL READY FOR BIG BARD PERFORMANCE

Popular Keady man, Donal McKenna seems to get better with age. Now in his early eighties, he is busy fine tuning his ode for the Bard finals on Friday 18 November.
His star is rising and he is confident that he can reach even great heights that his commendable third place last year with ‘Cock-a-doodle-do’. In fact there must have been just a rooster’s whisker between himself and second placed Liam McNally who in turn was just pipped by Jimmy Rafferty last year. His entry this year, ‘The tale of poor oul Tim McCann’ looks very good and Donal will be ready to take the 1000 strong audience on a journey brimming with hilarity as they tune in to his excellent penmanship and tip-top presentation skills.
Will a new winner emerge this year to break the five year monopoly of Liam McNally and Jimmy Rafferty? Could this be the year at last of a female winner? By all accounts the standard this year is of the highest order. Once again, by popular demand, the maestro Michael Quinn with provide the first course to help lubricate the laughing muscles. The Gerry Watters Hall of Fame will be presented to Mullaghbawn’s Pat McGeeney, a former dual Bard winner. The bard is a complete sell out proving once again that the event is a true and genuine art-form with countywide appeal. Patrons are advised to arrive early so that the extravaganza can begin at 8.00pm.
