MARY BYRNE IS UP FOR THE BARD

Popular Cavan lady, Mary Byrne is back in the Bard finals with a vengeance and is aiming to become the first lady to take the title since the competition began seventeen years ago.  Mary was extremely close with her ode ‘Our News’ in 2003 and was just pipped by Henry McGrath with ‘My Stay in Daisy Hill.  Henry could be close this year as well as his composition ‘The Recession’ is so hilarious and yet absolutely true to life.  It is certain to generate great outpourings of laughter.

A novel feature this year will be background music to introduce each bard and all poems will each have a pertinent song to add flavour to the presentations.

Tickets are close to being sold out in keeping with all bard events over the years
