With the Autumn nights dropping down and the first signs of frost, the attention of many is turning away from the sights and sounds of summer to the forthcoming feast of uproarious verse, the finals of the Bard of Armagh. The hugely popular event is being staged on Friday 19 November at the Armagh City Hotel. Already there has been a tremendous interest in tickets and the organisers are expecting the event to be sold out as usual within the next couple of weeks. The unique event that is ‘the bard’ brings people from every county in Ireland and from abroad to enjoy the best night’s crack of the year. Many patrons have built the bard finals into their annual cycle of events, making it as much looked forward to as Christmas, Easter, birthdays and the summer holidays. On the bard night, a special irresistible energy flows, which always activates the audience and causes them to remove the shackles of modern living and become submerged in a tidal wave of laughter. They leave the event somewhat wiser and more composed having supped of the glass of good humour and jollification. The committee is urging patrons to shop early for tickets and avoid the disappointment many had to endure last year. Tickets are now on sale at the following venues. The Old Mill Keady, Armagh City Hotel, Mona McEntee’s Crossmaglen, Gene Stewart Dungannon, and House of Gold Monaghan.
